We have a few Cornish Rock chickens that we are raising for the freezer. Within the first week we lost two, one to Junebugg who took advantage of an escapee (another farm accident) and one to some sort of illness. Then we have this little one who couldn’t walk, which is sometimes the case with these fast growing birds. We thought it was a gonner.
Before moving the chicken tractor, Mike would put the bird on top and it would get a ride while I drove the garden tractor that was hitched up, pulling the pen to the next spot with Mike walking and elevating the rear of the tractor with an old dolly that was my father’s years ago. Each time, after we moved the chicken tractor, Mike would hold the little bird to get a drink. When the bird was done drinking, he would place it next to the feeder so it could eat. After a handful of days of doing this, the bird is now able to stand and walk a few steps. It can get to the feeder and waterer on its own. I think Mike saved its life preventing it from dying a slow death from hunger and thirst or immediate euthanasia. Thanks Mike. 🥰
Revelation 21:6
And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.
