I took Junebugg up in the field for an evening walk. I enjoy walking up in the field as it makes me feel I’m somewhere far away out in the countryside. It’s very quiet up there and I can easily imagine that there is no other person around for miles-until something occurs that rips me back to reality.
Junebugg enjoys it as well. I let her have some sniff therapy while we patrol the perimeter. Something got her attention amongst the trees that put her on alert. She became stiff straight while she growled and buffed at it. I couldn’t see what was disturbing her. She started to take slow steps backwards while still doing some quiet growling. I figured that whatever was scaring her enough to make her back up is probably something I don’t want near me. So we decided it was best to keep moving.
From the top of the hill I caught a glimpse of a blanket of smoke covering the valley that is about one half mile to the south. It looked very ethereal. Then I noticed the sliver-thin crescent moon. Now it was even more ethereal. I tried to capture the scene with a photo. Junebugg waited patiently for me while I snapped several images. Unfortunately my phone camera doesn’t take good images in low light so I was unable to sufficiently render my observation via a photo.
It wasn’t long before the smoke smell arrived and the odor of burning leaves ruined the experience I was enjoying. Junebugg and I headed back to the house.
Ecclesiastes 8:13
The wicked will not prosper, for they do not fear God. Their days will never grow long like the evening shadows.
