Closer Than A Brother

I was working on my floor loom yesterday and caught a glimpse of Junebugg’s tail by my foot. She was laying on the floor wedged in between the treadles and the beater bar. I don’t know exactly how long she had been there as I had been working for a while. She was resting between the moving mechanisms of the loom; the treadles moving up and down that provide force as I press on them with my foot to cause the lamms, that pull the shafts down, to move up and down and as a result; the shafts move up and down bringing about the act of weaving. After that comes the movement of the beater bar that I pull towards me 3 times for each throw – one soft and two very hard slams to pack the weft in. It’s a very noisy process full of movement.

I can’t, for the life of me, understand why she would want to remain in such an awkward spot but she did; until Mike came into the room with his coat on. Then she left me most likely thinking she would be going outside. Being outside is her ultimate favorite place. πŸ•

Proverbs 18:24

A man of many companions may come to ruin,
but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
